Abbott Alinity CI Chemistry And Immunology Analyzer

How the Abbott Alinity ci analyzer runs chemistry and immunoassay together

The Alinity ci puts two processing modules side by side under one System Control Module. The Alinity c side measures photometric chemistry plus sodium, potassium and chloride. The Alinity i side runs chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassays (CMIA) with Abbott's CHEMIFLEX detection.

The Alinity c chemistry module

Run up to 1,350 tests an hour from 70 refrigerated reagent cartridges, with the ICT module measuring sodium, potassium and chloride together.
Store calibrators and controls onboard and let the system run them on schedule.
Measure hemolysis, icterus and lipemia indices on chemistry samples, and extend the linear range of enzyme assays with FlexRate.

The Alinity i immunoassay module

Run up to 200 immunoassay tests an hour from 47 refrigerated reagent cartridges, on 2 to 200 µL of sample.
Run Abbott's immunoassay menu across cardiac, thyroid, fertility, oncology, hepatitis, retrovirus, therapeutic drug monitoring and transplant testing, including STAT high-sensitivity troponin I and NT-proBNP.
Report results without biotin interference. Abbott designs its Alinity i assays without a streptavidin capture step.
Store controls onboard and let the system run them automatically. Calibration intervals and onboard reagent stability both run from 15 to 30 days, depending on the assay.
Let the system retest samples automatically when a result calls for it.

Across the whole system

Load reagents, calibrators, controls and consumables on either module without stopping tests in progress.
Move STAT work ahead of routine samples by prioritizing a single rack or setting fixed STAT positions.
Catch clots, bubbles and foam at aspiration, and hold sample carryover at 0.1 ppm or less, excluding whole blood.
Load primary tubes or sample cups in 6-position racks.
Plan on no daily maintenance for either module, by Abbott's estimate. Weekly maintenance runs about 30 minutes on the chemistry side and 16 minutes on the immunoassay side.
Send results to your LIS over HL7 or ASTM with bidirectional host query, and keep up to 200,000 results onboard.

Ask for the list of chemistry and immunoassay tests run on the Alinity ci we have in stock, and check it against your menu.

REQUEST ASSAYS

Abbott Alinity ci throughput. How many tests per hour?

Each module has its own reagent and sample carousels and pipettors, so chemistry and immunoassay work run in parallel.

  • Chemistry output depends on your electrolyte share. Photometric assays run at up to 900 tests an hour. The ICT module makes up the rest of the 1,350 rating, because each sodium, potassium and chloride result counts as a test.
  • Immunoassay output tops out at 200 tests an hour per module. If your immunoassay volume outgrows one Alinity i, a second module doubles that capacity.
  • Continuous loading keeps both modules testing while your techs restock reagents and supplies.

Abbott rates the Alinity ci at up to 665 tests an hour per square meter of floor. The Architect ci8200 runs up to 1,400 tests an hour across two units 79 and 61 inches wide. The Alinity ci runs up to 1,550 in a system 78 inches wide.

One System Control Module runs up to four Alinity modules, and there are up to 14 configurations. Adding a second chemistry module to make an Alinity cic and raises capacity to 2,900 tests an hour.

Plan floor space, power and water for your Alinity ci

An Alinity ci measures 134 cm (53 in) tall, 199 cm (78 in) wide and 117 cm (46 in) deep, and Abbott lists the system at 1,160 kg (2,557 lb). Leave room at the end of the run if you expect to add a third module later.

  • Give each processing module its own 180 to 264 V, 16 A supply, and run the System Control Module on 90 to 264 V, 16 A.
  • Supply about 37 L (9.8 gal) of water an hour on average. Use can reach 60 L (15.9 gal) an hour for up to two minutes while the wash buffer dilution assembly primes.
  • Route waste to a drain or collect it onboard.
  • Size your HVAC for an average heat output of 3,639 Btu across both modules during processing.
  • Expect about 56 dBA at 1 meter from the chemistry module and about 63 dBA from the immunoassay module.

Which labs buy a refurbished Abbott Alinity ci?

These labs get the most from a refurbished ci.

Hospital core labs consolidating two analyzers. Move chemistry, electrolytes and immunoassay onto one system run from one screen, and free up the floor the second analyzer took.

Labs moving off Architect ci4100 or ci8200. Abbott built Alinity assays on its Architect assay technology, so results compare across the platforms. A five-year review of QC data found stable high-sensitivity troponin I performance on Architect ci4100, Architect i2000SR and Alinity ci analyzers.

Labs that already own half the system. Add the module you're missing to your existing Alinity analyzer and your staff keep the software and screens they know.

Labs with heavy ED and cardiac volume. Run STAT high-sensitivity troponin I and NT-proBNP on the immunoassay side while the chemistry side handles metabolic panels, with fixed STAT positions for urgent samples.

Labs short on space. Run up to more chemistry and immunoassay tests an hour in a smaller footprint.

Abbott Alinity ci price. New vs. refurbished

Abbott quotes new Alinity ci systems privately, contract by contract, and often ties the instrument to a reagent agreement that folds its cost into what you pay per test. We price each refurbished Alinity ci individually, because every module differs in year of manufacture and configuration. Whatever you buy, you pay up to 70% less than new and the system belongs to you.

What goes into your Alinity ci quote

  • The year of manufacture of each module.
  • Whether you need the complete system or one module to pair with yours.
  • The configuration, from a standard ci to a larger ci-series system.
  • Installation, assay programming and verification for both chemistry and immunoassay.
  • Operator training.
  • The service plan you pick.
  • Freight and rigging for two modules.
  • The trade-in value of the analyzers you're retiring.

Why buy a refurbished Alinity ci instead of new?

A smaller capital request. Cut the cost of a two-module system by up to 70%.
Only the module you need. Complete the ci around the Alinity c or Alinity i you own, instead of buying a full new system.
Ownership. You own the system outright rather than paying for it inside reagent pricing, and you choose who services it.
The same assays. A refurbished Alinity ci runs the same Abbott chemistry and immunoassay menu as a new one, and we supply the reagents and consumables.
Less waste. Rebuilding two modules keeps them in service and out of landfill, using less energy and raw material than manufacturing new ones.

Get a quote for your Alinity ci

Tell us which Alinity modules you already own, your chemistry and immunoassay volumes and when you need the system running, and we'll quote the configuration that fits. We can show that quote as a monthly payment too, starting with $0 down and low introductory payments.

Frequently asked questions about the Abbott Alinity ci

How many tests per hour does the Abbott Alinity ci run?

Up to 1,550 tests an hour, split between up to 1,350 on the chemistry module and up to 200 on the immunoassay module.

How much does an Abbott Alinity ci cost?

Abbott quotes new systems privately, by contract. We price each refurbished Alinity ci individually, based on each module's year of manufacture, whether you need both modules, the configuration and the services you add. It runs up to 70% below new.

What's the difference between the Alinity c, Alinity i and Alinity ci?

The Alinity c is the chemistry module, and the Alinity i is the immunoassay module. The Alinity ci joins one of each under a single System Control Module.

I already own an Alinity c. Can you turn it into an Alinity ci?

Yes. We pair a refurbished Alinity i with your Alinity c and install them together as a ci. If you own an Alinity i, we add a refurbished Alinity c instead.

How does the Alinity ci compare with the Architect ci8200?

The ci8200 runs up to 1,400 tests an hour across two units 79 and 61 inches wide. The Alinity ci runs up to 1,550 in a system 78 inches wide, and Abbott built Alinity assays on its Architect assay technology, so results compare across both.
